Ho-Ho-Ho, Little Boy! Have I Got A Surprise For You!

Well the Christmas deco's still aren't up on Cloudbase Mondo yet - perhaps this coming weekend. My preference is for a discreet touch of Christmas trim, I can't be doing with the invasive tackery of outside ornamentation - reindeers, sleighs and Santas dangling - why would anyone choose to live in a festive ferris wheel? However there's a couple close-at-hand clockwork critters, that help kick off the seasonal cheer round here..

Our neighbour's clockwork guitar playing robo-pixie, which sits and strums his guitar, while tinsel tunes play away. But, oh dear - the guitar went missing some years ago, and now seen from behind with his clenched fist and steady strumming motion seems forever lost on his own little 'solitaire' session (cue 'are you a goblin jokes?')

My mum's battery Santa - which should draw in the kiddies with encouraging nods and shakes of his head. Unfortunately he's suffered some sort of mechanical agg' leaving him with rotating a bonce which completes a full 360 degree turn. Permanently! Look away little'un's, it's like Linda Blair in The Excorcist.

If only I knew how to get these things on to youtube..

And should you fancy few seasonal tunes - that aren't the usual Christmas perma-plays, why not hop on over to the other side to see what's a'popping on this year's Countdown To Christmas

I hope you've got a few choice cuts from Switched on Santa lined up over the next few weeks. Looks like a fab album!

Don't tempt me Cocktails - I've got this piece of electro-mania somewhere (it's not all that, actually). Don't forget to check out the Christmas goes Cajun flavours here

Mondo we just have to see these animatrons on film. YouTube give instructions on uploading from a camera or phonecam, if you're so inclined..

My Niece has a “Christmas Turkey” that intermittently sings “Jingle Bells” between outbursts of gobbble, gobbble, gobbble
(Is that how you’d spell the noise Turkey’s make?)
It’s hilarious!

We’re real subtle here since the Cat came to live with us, as he is “The Destroyer” of all things Christmasy…

My next door neighbor goes way overboard with the Christmas decorations. She does it every year. It looks quite tacky.

I'm going to have to do it OP, I could sit the little strummer boy facing Santa, so his rotating head is seen as a reaction shot to one of his little helpers 'helping himself' so to speak.

Got to see that Lil, our old cat would either go nuts batting at the baubles, leave his own little pressies under the tree (in the bucket normally) or fling himself into it and get stuck

There's a few streets round our way that famously go overboard every year Keith, but there's always the rogue neighbout that never joins in

I am weeping with laughter at your description of your Mum's battery Santa. Nothing you could post on YouTube could possibly top what I've got in my head.

I forgot to mention ISB she's also got an anamatronic fairground merry-go-round which plays a christmas medley, but a handful of notes have gone out of whack and de-tuned themselves, so you get these rogue notes firing off Russian roulette style. Very jarring on the ear.

I had an auntie who had a laughing santa in the 80's. But when he bet forward his bobblin head, erm, bobbled off! Eerily tho, he still kept laughin, even without the ol bonce (which was last seen behind the tv)
